Partnering with EWB to bring clean, reliable water systems to communities in need.
At ProAutomated, we spend our days troubleshooting, commissioning, and perfecting complex automated systems across North America. But we also believe that our engineering skills can—and should—be used to make a global impact. That’s why we partner with Engineers Without Borders (EWB) to volunteer our time, expertise, and hands-on labor to support communities in Guatemala.

Many remote villages in Guatemala face the same critical challenge: a lack of reliable access to clean drinking water. Trading our usual industrial job sites for the beautiful yet rugged terrain of Guatemala, year after year our teams of field engineers have stepped in to help construct a sustainable water system.

Our teams work side-by-side with local community members and EWB organizers to dig ditches, carry supplies, bend rebar, mix, pour, and shape concrete into structures that will carry fresh water from far-away springs and store them directly in the communities.
These efforts save the hard working families hours of time by not having to hike miles into the forest to bring back only the water they can carry. Instead they’re able to spend that time tending to their farms, helping their neighbors, or simply enjoying their families.

Providing labor to support the community's project is just the start, but the impact goes far deeper. The local children's smiles are worth their weight in gold!

We made sure to take time to connect with the community outside of work whenever possible. Sometimes this meant simply chatting to learn more about their lifestyle, or sharing a meal. On one special day we hosted a cleanup of their local fútbol field and even got a game going. When word spread, kids came running from nearby communities to join in. With no winner of the match, an impromptu penalty shootout began to see who could score against El Gringo Gigante.
